Hello, I am sure I will get some bad slack from HK owners but I wouldn't put an HK in my home theater set up if it was free. I had a friend who bought a a 645 because he had heard some good things about them and loved the look. He was replacing a Yamaha RX-V750 (NO HDMI THOUGH) and as the old saying goes never judge a book by its cover, the receiver looks nice and has great specs but the sound quality was utter garbage. He actually was so angry with the HK product that in order to get it out of his site he sold it for 300$ and returned to a Yamaha Receiver. I must say HK is quality built but well overpriced for what you are actually getting. Unless you are going to buy the top end model (even then its way to much for what it actually is) You are most likely to be very unhappy with what you will get for the dollar amount that you spent on the unit. I was going to purchase an HK receiver myself at one point but the situation with my friend and also the opinions I got from an AV tech of 30+ years who also told me that its a quality product that will last but dollar for dollar the things are a huge ripoff. So I would recommend a brand like Yamaha or the Onkyo 875 or 905 as they will blow the HK out of the water. One thing the HK is well known for and very proud of is there high current low impedance capability and the 2 ONKYO's mentioned have more current and more power and are just a better overall product. Or if you can afford it go with the new Denons 4xxx or 5xxx models seem to be very well reviewed although very expensive. dont think the new 5xxx series is available yet but it will have the HQV REALTA video processor in it which is the best upscaler available next to a stand alone processor in the 15000 + price range. Hope this helps
