Grain is the main enemy of compression at these bitrates, and since this is all CGI and digital video, this won't be a compression torture test like a 16mm film. Still, maximizing A/V parameters is never a bad thing.

Yeah, grain is the biggest challenge. I think the first two Godfather films are probably the toughest challenge on Blu-ray so far. Both films are framed on Blu-ray at 1.78:1 so there are no black bars to take away from the amount of compression needed. Both films have a ton of grain. Part II is 3 hours, 20 minutes. That sucker is pretty much maxed out and the bitrate is in the low 20's I think. It looks fantastic despite all the challenges and limitations.
