I've finished all three now. They're extraordinary films.

The audio on all three films are 5/5. Reference quality audio.

As for video...

FOTR is 3.5-4.0/5. It looks a LOT better than some posters are saying and its black/white with the DVD quality(judging from the special features as I don't own the DVD editions) My eyes aren't that sensitive to DNR. There were a few moments that looked bad, but if you spotted anything terrible... you're probably just looking for flaws so you can talk about them on some forum instead actually enjoying a film.
TTT and ROTK looked 5/5 to me. Apparently they also have problems, but I feel that if there wasn't so much said about the PQ on these discs I'd never look for flaws in the picture. Of course, there are problems, but they rarely got in the way or were noticed by me. So don't take this as 100% perfect, but the majority of the 6+ hours you will be staring at reference quality picture. They aren't perfect, but IMO are above 4.5 for both.

I'm not a qualified reviewer or anything, and I'm not as crazy as those people who go to AVS. I thought that in retrospect, these films look great and if I was Peter Jackson I'd have been pleased with these(which apparently he was).

I also really want to see the Extended Editions now. I'm hungry for more LOTRy goodness.
