Motion interpolation is LCD's (LEDs are also LCDs, BTW) way of addressing the generally poor motion resolution inherant with LCD technology. It also helps with motion blurring (which is NOT the same thing as motion resolution). Plasma does not need this feature, as new sets typically display 1080/1080 lines of motion resolution (or real close), and because of their order of magnitude faster refresh rate, motion blur is nonexistant.
