Universal's VERY conscious that after Warner and Disney, every studio now has to have its own Mickey Mouse--Ie., the marketable house brand label that instantly identifies one studio from another.
Disney obviously has theirs, Warner has Bugs Bunny and Batman covered, and Fox has been known to go to town with Die Hard and the Apes...And Universal knows they have their own ace in the hole with Frankenstein/Dracula, and with the Classic Hitchcocks. (Which they often lump together under the one "Classic Universal Horror" label.)

They're nervous about catalog releases like every other timid studio is at the moment, but as long as studios think they have to "compete" for a share in the market, I wouldn't worry about Uni sweeping the Hitchcock movies under the rug any time soon...Psycho was just the most iconically marketable (and "Classic Horror" crossover) to get the foot in the door.
