Not sure if there are any long term effects other then the ball is now in the BDA's court. Tosh played their last card with the price drop. If the BDA waits about 3 mos and then does a similar price drop with a studio(WB or Uni) switch. It's game over
I think it'll be easy for studios to see that BD is the winner if the $99 players don't generate any further sales increases for the HD-DVD camp. On the other hand, If BD holds strong without any serious price drop, I think thats a good sign to the studios that money can be made with the BDA and they deliever a superior product.
