In another year, the 720p sets will go the way of the Enhanced Defiinition Sets (remember them, 480p instead of 480i). My advice is to stay away from them.
If you don't want to spend the money for a Pioneer 1080p plasma, you may consider a Samsung 5884 58" 1080p plasma set. Its picture quality is very good with a 15,000 to 1 contrast ratio and an 18 bit color processor. It also includes anti-image retention software (including pixel shift) to reduce the possiblility of image burn in. You can get this 58" model for the price of a 50" 720 Pioneer. They also came out with a wireless version of this set if you want to wall mount your set (about $600.00 more).
