I don't think it would make any sense for Time Warner to let one go without the other. How would they justify fighting against themselves like that to their shareholders who buy one stock which includes both Warner and New Line? So, basically I think they go together, whichever way they go.

And just to add one thing, I personally think Lord of the Rings is more important that Star Wars to this war and that if New Line goes, they will announce it fairly soon thereafter for the format they then are siding with completely. And if New Line goes to Blu-ray before releasing some of those titles that came to Blu-ray first because of region encoding, HD DVD may never get them.
