If Amir was still in a position with any real power within Microsoft maybe they would be helping Toshiba more, but I think people have the wrong idea about how much Microsoft truely supports HD DVD at this point. I think there is a reason those losses of hundreds of millions of dollars are showing up on Toshiba's books and I bet you don't see huge losses on Microsoft's books from this stuff. Microsoft does have a lot of money, but they still have to account for certain things and answer to their shareholders (along with wanting to spend their money wisely). Like the losses in the XBOX division that many shareholders have been complaining about and where I'm pretty sure Microsoft wouldn't want to keep that division from making a profit or increase its losses much just for HD DVD's sake.
