Many people don’t see a big difference between 1080P and 720P unless the screen is 50 inches or more. At a distance of 6.5 feet you will see a big difference on a 50 inch screen and on a 70” screen there is a difference at 10 feet away. I have seen a difference on a 37” 1080P display seating 5 feet from the screen. Also keep in mind some stores don’t always play 1080P or 1080I programming. Some stores only demo sets on DVD quality 480P and HDTV 720P quality. You can save a lot of money going 720P. Walmart has a Sanyo 30” CRT big tube TV with 720P and QAM tuner with HDMI for under $400. The average CRT has a 50,000:1 contrast ratio.
