too, have this player hooked up to an old 4:3 Tv too! All of the answers that are in the previous post are correct for the most part. The only exceptions are 4,5 & 7.
In (4) the player will NOT cut off the edges or zoom to fill the screen.
In (5) the player will NOT play Video CDs. That was part of the DVD spec when it was introduced, but NOT included in the BD spec.
In (6) the player will ONLY play MP3s on DVD; not CD. ONLY CD Audio.
In (7) No to VCD.
