The question is whether they could produce a dual-format player at a price that would be accepted by existing HD-DVD owners. A lot of the HD-DVD crowd is complaining that they can't afford even a $299 player, but I suppose that persons who can't afford that level of player are unlikely to have amassed a large software library in the first place. And such would just reinforce the idea that the potential market for a dual player is small indeed.
