Unfortunately most think of it as a Really exspensive console. Thats because all the confusion on the HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray front.
I feel it is a absolute steal on the blu-ray player front,I think it does well with my standard dvds too. The Gaming aspect is just icing on the cake,Resistance:Fall of Man kicks a** big time I love the online play.

Plus it doesn't help everybody keeps throwing out all these abbreviations that do nothing but confuse the "average" consumer to the point of making them feel dumb, its so bad that people at my work ask me all the time and have even commented on not wanting to ask at a store for fear of being treated poorly for not knowing. Examples are: SDTV,HDMI,DVI,HDTV,HD-DVD,Blu-Ray,LCD,DLP,LCos,D-ILA,SXRD,480i/p 720p,1080i/p. People see all these logos and go WTF?
Why they started using SDTV is beyond me and LCos,D-ILA,SXRD are all individual manufacturers take on the same technology cause apparently no-one can agree on one thing. Now I noticed that they(HD-DVD) are releasing these "dual" format HD-DVD on one side and DVD on the other. I assume this is a ploy to gain a imaginary market share. I truly hope Blu-ray wins out and I think the PS3 is a crucial part of that happening. I have more movies than games and I just picked up a few more.
