Think it is worth it or should I just keep waiting until something else comes around...
I have a potential solution for you. I own 3 Sony DVP-CX777ES 400 disc dvd changers that are connected to an Escient Fireball. The Escient allows up to five 400 disc players to be connected to it (meaning a total of 2000 discs). It organizes the discs for you alphabetically or by theme if you wish, including cover art and film information. You connect the disc players by component cable, digital optical for sound and control cables (mini-plugs). The Escient connects to the internet on your home server and downloads the appropriate information from online. Loading time on a DVD is less than 25 seconds from the time you select the disc you want to watch to actual playback on your TV. I've had my system for two years and absolutely love it. The only drawback is that these 400 disc units are standard DVD players, not blu ray. I hope that helps. (The Sonys run about $600 apiece and the Escient will set you back about $5000, but that's a far cry from $20K.
