We have realized a hefty cost performance by developing a product that integrates 32-inch LCD TV, HDD DVD recorder and PC functions, but costs less than ¥400,000." Fujitsu Ltd. revealed its summer 2005 desktop and notebook PC lineup, including those with a built-in display and capability to record and replay digital HDTV broadcasts.
The FMV-DESKPOWER TX90L/D with a 32-inch wide LCD panel and the FMV-DESKPOWER LX90L/D with a 20-inch wide LCD panel are Japan's first PCs that can store and reproduce terrestrial, BS and 110-degree CS satellite digital broadcasting contents without downgrading the HDTV format. NEC Corp. has also released a PC that can record digital broadcasting, but the computer replays it by downconverting HDTV into a lower resolution SDTV format. Fujitsu has enabled HDTV recording and playback by introducing its proprietary ASIC, the Secure LSI, with content protection capability. This ASIC is embedded with a digital tuner board jointly developed with Pixela Corp.
