I come in peace. As a disappointed owner of an HD-A2, I am coming to say hello and wondering about Blu-ray players. I've never really looked into them, as the last Sony product I owned was the original Playstation and ever since my purchase of teh original Xbox and some trouble/dissatisfact I had with a Sony camcorder and ES receiver, I have since washed my hands of Sony. However, I am relieved to hear that it appears that perhaps the most highly regarded blu-ray players are in fact branded by Pioneer and Panasonic. I am really tempted to wait it out until Blu-ray has gotten their act together on getting a product that matches the features of my Toshiba HD-A2 (online, etc.). I wonder, do you know when to expect this? I also would like one that sends the hd-audio formats across HDMI in bitstream, as my new Onkyo TX-SR805 can decode those audio formats.
I am disappointed, and frankly a little surprised it ended as it did. It always appeared Warner preferred HD-DVD with their releases, and perhaps they might have but they couldn't ignore the momentum Blu-ray had. Fortunately, my HD-A2 is a great product and will continue to play the discs that I have for years to come, and my new A/V receiver has plenty of space for a Blu-ray player. Any input on when Blu-ray is going to get profile 2.0 players out would be appreciated.
Congratulations on the victory. And from my perspective, I'll be able to pick up some dirt cheap HD-DVD's to supplement with my new Blu-ray movies :-). I must admit, I have been salivating at the thought of Pixar movies in high-definition.
thanks.
