Not very friendly...

Well, I was just going to announce that I've gone blu...Way back when I first saw blu-ray and HD-DVD in a Circuit City store the red covers looked so cool, and I didn't have any idea about what I was getting into. The CC employee pushed me towards red last year and said they will probably win. I went red at the time. I liked some of the movies on HD-DVD (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Casablanca, etc) and had been red ever since.

I'm completely fed up with red though. With the lack of customer support, with them losing studio support, and with the subpar image and audio compared to my blu friends. I've sold all my HD-DVD movies and player and am looking for suggestions on how to complete my blu experience.

My budget is ~500 for a player, ~300 for movies. What movies should I start with? What player is the best on the market sub 500 right now? I have a 1080p 50" tv with 2 HDMI outputs.
