Kino is generally like Criterion, in that its releases are locked to Region A as standard. (It's a bummer, 'coz they're the only ones putting Buster Keaton on Blu.)

By all accounts, the UK release of Metropolis is the better one to get, and has a commentary track that Kino's US release is missing.

I was wrong, it seems. According to this comparison review by DVD Beaver (http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCom...etropolis2.htm), the Kino (US) release is generally noted as being Region A locked, but is in fact region-free. It agrees that the UK release is the one to get, though.
