Back before I swore off eBay, I got a shipment sent to me with a printed out picture of the product in the box. This showed the condition of the item and the fact that it was in the box. The seller emailed me the picture with the tracking #. Now there is nothing to say that he/she couldn't have then switched the item, or removed it before sending...
But if nothing else, a digital shot of the movies as you boxed them would help to refresh your memory of what you actually shipped.
In the end, insisting on insurance is probably the best way to go.
