I may be wrong, but from my recollection the unaltered trilogy has been available on every home format aside bluray so far. There is nothing holding back people from seeing them. The unaltered movies didn't even appear on dvd until a few years ago. BD is still quite new. I don't see much reason to believe it won't reappear on this format.
You call the new cg and what have you ridiculous and revisionism, and the unaltered movies are the only ones that seemingly have any value, mainly because of their historical impact. However the series creator views those cuts as outdated rough ones, preferring these modern release as the true ones. One wants to eliminate everything thats not viewable with their rose tinted glasses, the other, wants to do whatever it takes to destroy all imperfections of the past. Honestly I feel these are just two sides of the same coin. Why push what you perceive as the proper version as the sole definitive version (this is applied to Lucas as well).
