"Are you trying to be dumb?
If it weren't for the PS3, HD-DVD would have won the format war."
Easy Junior (member)... They have a point, and it makes a good question for discussion. These other companies have a stake in Blu adoption, and if the PS3 is constantly selling out, and nobody else gets a nice chunk of pie - what's in it for them? Why develop new products that still don't match up to the PS3? (Wow, feels so good to flex the PS3's 'powerhouse' status. And some just call it a 'game machine', or kids toy... tut, tut).
Truth is, newer players DO have advantages. But it's reputation, flexibility, and brand name strength do help to bring in the general public that may be scared off by the prospect of having to wrangle with sales people and technobabble in order to find a player that fits their wants without spending too much $. *gasp* (don't you love run-on sentences?).
PS, take it easy when questioning someone's intelligence. It's those kind of knee-jerk attacks that helped make other forums nasty places to be. It was actually a good question.
Cheers,
Doc
