EDIT: I should warn you though. Some companies don't allow their save data to be copied, which sucks. Rock Band is one example.
Actually, I think that you might be able to back-up the "SAVE" data on Rock Band. I haven't tried. But, there are two files that make up the data on the PS3 Hard Drive for this game. One is player progress information and the other is gameplay information (mostly downloaded content). I know that the gameplay data cannot be backed-up. My Rock Band went all haywire on me one day and I had to delete the gameplay data. I had no choice and was very worried as I had some pretty advanced characters. Once I d/loaded all of the download content again, the characters still had all of their statistics for all 102 songs.
