I'm absurdly idealistic and impractical about many things, I'm well aware, but wouldn't it be swell if – in a situation like the works of one specific director – the various distribution entities got together and arranged simultaneous releases of their various proprietary titles, but co-ordinated things like the box and disc artwork, and whether each title got one or two discs, that sort of thing?
I would have thought it would be a win in all directions. Each company would market and profit from the titles it had the rights to, and purchasers would get uniform sets that functioned like different volumes of the one series.
Too much to even dream about, do you think?
