Yes, but a miniature model is not 100% authentic either. There's always something that's always going to be a little off.
However great model making and the associated photography is authentic looking and great CGI is authentic looking. And bad model making and bad CGI are going to look terrible.
So it's not the method that's used to get there - it's the result.
