sorry mate hate to tell you but indeed there is region coding on Blu-rays although to be fair not ALL are. It depends mostly on the studio involved more than anything. Sony tend to lock they're new releases along with Fox and Disney whilst Warner titles and old catalogue titles from most studios are region free. A good example of how silly things can get like that is with the Spiderman Trilogy boxset. Spiderman 1 and 2 are region free whilst Spiderman 3 is region coded..
There are a few sites out there that list films plus you get a few online sellers like Movietyme.com that have a blog setup to test new releases as they get them.
