It seems to me that the scarecrows are facing the Forbidden Zone, to scare people from entering Ape territory, so the apes don't really seem to care if any humans go into the Forbidden Zone, because the humans would probably die before they could find sustainence.
2. At the end of the movie, just before we see the top of the statue of Liberty, do we have any idea of what we see that is "metal" that is shown ??

Well first of all I would like to know how was the movie? Since you re-watched the movie you must like it. But did you notice the following incident in the movie?
The astronauts find a plant which they declare their first "life" seen on the planet. They are oblivious to the grassy ridge behind them, seen when they are squatting.
