As a Blu Ray supporter from the beginning this meant that I was:

1.) See everything on Spankey's list.

2.) Helping to build and support an "apartheid state", according to HD-DVD zealots like Plazman.

3.) I was/am a "terrorist" according to some MS employee who was using the screen name of 'nataraj' on AVS during most of the height of the aggressive HD-DVD propoganda and FUD campaign.

4.) All I have to do anywhere on the Internet is pretend I know more than I do and cite "sources" and I can be a quasi insider even if most if not all of my "predictions" never come true.

5.) If I'm on the same "side" as the powers that be on certain forums I can have literal impunity and immortality, but woe be unto anyone who strays from that path.

6.) The power of the Internet really can make a difference. It's hard to say but perhaps Betamax would have won back in the early 80's if there had been a such thing as the Internet. Who knows? Clearly the real world/world is a much smaller place paradigm that Internet affords played an incredibly huge factor in this format war both good and bad.

7.) Somehow Sony has nearly godlike powers and infinite amounts of money and resource that allowed them to pay off the media, most of the major retailers, and most of Hollywood's major studios namely Fox, Disney, MGM, and finally, Warner. Somehow this is real and happened despite the obvious free pass and double standard given to a company like Microsoft, which clearly exhibited and continues to exhibit more of those characteristics through its entire history right on through today.

The latest example being their thankfully failed hostile takeover of Yahoo. If you can't beat them, buy them out. That's not Sony, that's Microsoft folks. Get it right.

8.) Winning is losing and losing is winning. I've lost count how much of this Orwellian logic I've seen from HD-DVD zealots over the past two years.

It continues right on through today with biased commentaries like these:

In the end, Toshiba didn't have to win and Sony did.

9.) There really are a lot of cheapskates and frankly, stupid people that Toshiba and HD-DVD brought into the game that would have been better off not being involved for their own sakes and all of ours.

10.) A lot of people took the phrase "format war" way too literally and seriously and permanent damage has been done.

11.) If you tell a lie often enough and loud enough you can get a lot of people to believe it. Apparently, that also extends to: If you WRITE a lie often enough and frequently enough you can get a lot of people to believe it and regurgitate it for you as well.

I may come up with more later...
