Once they spun off the Netscape code to create the Mozilla browser, now Firefox, I never got what the point was supposed to be with keeping the Netscape project around.

Basically they'd release a new version of Mozilla, which you could download right away, then several weeks later the same code would be released rebranded as Netscape. Why?

I suppose it's kind of sad, but any vestige of the original spirit of the Netscape codes has continued in the Firefox line, so it's only the end of the name.
