In my opinion, there is a difference between a director making movies that don't appeal to you, and a director that is truly awful. Michael Bay manages to create the exact movie he sets out to create, so even if you hate that movie, he's done exactly what he wanted to do. Ed Wood or Tyler Perry, on the other hand, fail at their intentions, which makes them worse, imo. I just happen to enjoy Ed Wood's failures
