What Are Your Best/Worst 2012 Blind Buys?
Hey folks
As the year quickly barrels down to a finish, let's look back at the movies we have purchased on our favorite format that have become our best & worst in the "Blind Buy" category. We have all done it: stared at a box (if in a store) or read a synopsis on imdb 20 times before putting on the blindfold and jumping off a digital cliff to buy movies we've never seen before. Mine are:
BEST 2012 BLIND BUYS
NIGHT OF THE DEVILS. Truly creepy and atmospheric Italian horror flick. My favorite blind buy of 2012
IRON SKY. Above-average and fun sci-fi flick. I don't usually blind-buy newer films but the trailer to this looked interesting. Turns out I didn't waste money this time.
DEATH WARRANT. Great little vintage (1990) Van Damme action flick.
DENVER & RIO GRANDE. Entertaining 50's Railroad-rivalry adventure, nice action.
GREED IN THE SUN. If you enjoyed WAGES OF FEAR, you'll like this one. Not as good as "Fear", but a good film overall.
WORST BLIND BUYS OF 2012
THE DAY. The film was passable entertainment but nothing I haven't seen before. Plus CGI blood turns me off big-time.
WRONG TURN 5. Sets rejected/left over from Sesame Street, CGI blood, nothing to see here, folks.
THE IRON ROSE. Pretentious Rollin BS. If I can't figure out what the heck is going on in the first 15 minutes, it's time to find something else to watch.
REC 3: GENESIS. Nothing to do story-wise with the first two. The 28 Days Later-look is tired by now.
BOUNDTwo hot chicks getting it on is always a plus but the story didn't do anything for me. And the one-location setting gave me cabin fever. Overrated.
