I don't think there is any problem with this, it will strengthen adoption of Blu across the board, which will sell more movies, lower prices, and hopefully spur better releases. Microsoft wins by getting more sales as people are looking for an integrated system. The BDA will win by sales from the drive and the disks. I honestly think the BDA would jump on board with the idea because as somebody said, 1.7 million extra players means a lot more disks sold.
I don't think there's a problem with the PS3, as when games people are waiting on start coming out later this year, sales of it will go up being driven by the games aspect of the system, and not as just a BD player. If it can't compete with the Xbox because it's not the only BD player console, then there's a major issue with Sony's marketing plan.
