That's inaccurate. According to Nintendo (
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/rep...rm_us_ssbb.jsp) the issue is not with launch consoles, but those that have dirty lenses.
Also, the disc itself is not thicker, it's just a dual layer disc. Surprising that such a thing is a problem, since dual-layer DVD has been used for games for years now.
