A tower speaker with better low-end performance can be integrated with an external subwoofer a lot easier and the end result will be better.
My two front tower speakers have 15" built-in subwoofers with dedicated 300 watt amplifiers. I also have ten external subwoofers in the room. Go ahead and say it. I am crazy.
