Good analogies IMO, except for including Monsters Inc. in the bunch.
Monsters Inc. was actually
re-rendered in the most extreme literal sense of the word. It
is a
100% Native-3D production. Both left and right virtual cameras captured
for the first time the original archival data, that needed hard-to-find dated-equipment for access. With significant manipulation, the creation presents two original points-of-view for the 3D feature.
The work involved repositioning characters, total volumetric changes in characters and shadow detail, complete background and object renovation, and then the placement merging for stereoscopic composition.
The 3D movie encompasses todays standards for higher resolution detail and visual performance. A contemporary rendition in all aspects to the original classic CGI feature.
