I just finished listening to both No Joy albums (Ghost Blonde and Wait to Pleasure) and the differences between both albums are vast. Wait to Pleasure is clearly a better album and far more immediate even though their first album had many moments that showed promise. I think Wait to Pleasure is a fine album but I can't see myself listening to this album repeatedly unlike the MBV album which I probably listened to about 20 times now (though that was all within a span of 2-3 weeks). This is a good band that does the shoegaze sound right, but the female front-women do not move me. A nu-gaze band like the Raveonettes on the other hand do, and I love listening to their music (which is immediately catchy and addictive).
I plan on listening more to No Joy as an initial review is not justifiably fair, but these are my thoughts.
