'm not so sure about how well BD recorders go in the US because of all the DVR's they have there. I mean, you know recordable DVD players, they are pretty popular over in Europe and Japan, but not in the USA. I'm pretty certain that there are many people on this forum that own a R-DVD player, but I don't think the general public has the players. In all honesty though, I want an R-BD player whenever I get a HDTV and a HD set top box.

DVD-R is a very tiny market in the US. DVR has pretty much taken over everyone's taping needs
I 'm building my own, with an eye on adding BD-R to it when the prices on the discs come down to a few dollars apiece for archiving HD broadcasts of shows. Who knows how many bombs that I lovewill never make it out to Blu... You can fit 3 episodes (4 if you chop the commercials) on a 25GB disc.
