well, imo a quality sub(even a low priced one like hsu/svs etc) will make up for the deficiencies in the Low Frequency response of entry level speakers. otherwise youre buying a subwoofer that really doesnt do anything better then occupy the lfe channel. however a quality sub should be able to play up 25-100 hz rather well(tight/fast/accurate), and allow you to operate your speakers with a 100 hz crossover for a rather nice sounding system.
waiting a little bit longer and getting a better sub just makes better sense, if you ask me.
