I just don't care for the angle they seem to be taking there. We've already had
[Show spoiler]Dexter take someone under his wing and attempt to teach them in season three (which was a great season) and in season 5 (which was rather poor). I know it's a little different with the way they're setting things up, but it's still the same basic idea. I just don't care to see that story again with a slightly younger participant and a change in the relationship dynamic.

I do like seeing
[Show spoiler]Hannah back in the picture though. It's not likely to happen, but a Bonnie and Clyde type of relationship with her and Dexter would be far more interesting.

Heck,
[Show spoiler]having Quinn find out about Dexter and, having just been passed over for a promotion, decide to team up with him - not to be another killer, but to provide a layer of protection and assistance from the police side of things - would be more interesting. If anyone at Miami Metro would see the value in what Dexter does, it would be Quinn.

And of course, maybe it's all misdirection of some sort.

...but it's been quite awhile since the writers for Dexter were able to do any serious misdirection or turn in major plot twists that weren't telegraphed far in advance. I guess I was just hoping for more from this season since it's the final one. One last hoorah with the writers really bringing their A-games. But we're halfway through, and it's all been very underwhelming for me, especially since
[Show spoiler]they're making it look like we're headed for yet another retread of a basic plot line that's been done twice already
.

Maybe that's just me though.
