It is not very dificult to cover the wires by using paintable wire covers or use extremely flat wires that are barely noticable. It is also possible to run the wires inside the walls. If you cannot do it yourself, hire an electrician and they will do a first class job. I realize that they charge money, but some of them charge only around $80 or $90 an hour. It doesn't look like your job will take more than an hour or two. If you have the money, do it and you will be a lot happier in the long run.
