warning: alot of people on here love the cheapest HDMI cables on the market.
the truth in hdmi in my opinion. If its 5 feet long or less, one brand wont make a better picture quality then the other. You have to have a very long wire to notice a difference.
The only reason to spend money is for reliability. I used to work at circuit city and have seen the down-sides to the cables that cost less then 10$. Ive seen ones that stop transfering sound from the player to the tv/receiver. Ive seen ones where after being plugged and unplugged a couple times you have to wiggle the connector in the TV to get a picture. Ive seen ones completely stop working after a couple months.
My rule, spend more then 30$, make sure it has gold connectors. and you should be ok. I personally buy belkin.
But i do like monster HDMI, only because they lock into place when you plug them in. And plus the employee discount on them was ridiculous
EDIT: the cable you got does closely resemble the hdmi's i used to see go defective fairly often, but at least it has gold tips.
