I have both the old disc and new disc playing simultaneously on my computer, switching back and forth between the audio on each. They sound identical to me. BDInfo scans show identical disc layouts and bitrates, too. The only thing I don't understand is that the disc numbers changed slightly:

Old - A0101774530-A911 1000 / A0101774530-B911 1000
New - A0101774530-A911 2000 / A0101774530-B911 3000

That being said, I know the film pretty well (as a kid I always preferred Destroyer to Barbarian and probably watched it 50 times on VHS) and I don't have a problem with the way this disc sounds. I suppose it may be the tiniest bit higher pitched than it should be, but it's not really noticeable unless you're nit-picking or have pitch-perfect hearing.
