I have a Mitsubishi 55" widescreen projection tv that supports 1080i but was purchased pre-HDMI. I want to get a blu-ray player (was looking at the Sony S300) but my dilemma is that I dont know if the picture will be as great as I want it to be without HDMI. Also someone at Best Buy has informed me that upconversion on standard dvds wont work without HDMI (Probably the main reason I didnt buy one that day).

I am planning on purchasing a new plasma TV by the end of summer, but I would just like an opinion on wither I should hold off on blu-ray until then. Thank you.
