If no one followed comics, then yes it would be fine to make those changes, but comic book fans like when their favorite superheroes look the same in their movies - the same goes regarding costumes. Comic book fans want to see a match. No one wants to watch a white Luke Cage in the same way no one wants to watch a black suit capeless Superman with long hair or Wonder Woman with a leather jacket and jeans. It's not about being open-minded. There arent that many superhero movies produced to allow those creative changes. There seems to be a lot of superhero movies released every year but there really are not so many. Everytime our favorite hero gets put on the screen, we have to wait usually 2 to 3 years. So since there is a bit of wait, we just want to see our heroes having their traditional looks. HAD their been more superhero movies released - such as three Spiderman movies per year - then I think people would be okay with seeing these characters get more creative versions (such as black or hispanic Spiderman movies, or Fantastic Four in their ugly white costumes).
