This thread's been dormant for a while, so pardon if I rouse it long enough to ask a question.
I have the UK steelbook release of
Platoon, and have just watched it on my PC, since my BD player is burnt out and needs replacing. (Using PowerDVD 13, and 8 GB of RAM.) I noticed some odd variation in the brightness of the image, most noticeably during the village scene, starting around 45 minutes in. It's not a flicker, but every few seconds, the brightness of the image (most notably in the background) would shift quite visibly.
It's weird. It might be my graphics card, of course, but it's odd that a) I haven't seen this in other BDs played on this system (nor, for that matter, in the supplementary docos on the same disc), and b) if I back up and replay sections of that scene, the shifts in brightness happen at
exactly the same moments, suggesting (I think) it's not just my graphics card throwing some kind of processor fit. I also monitored the bitrate, and there are no increases or spikes.
So, my question is: has anyone else noticed this happening with this release?
I hadn't actually watched it on my BD player, so I don't have that to compare this with. But it seems very odd. I'd be grateful for any comments or suggestions.
