It's notable for two things. After the seeming excesses of
Moonraker,
FYEO scaled back considerably, and harkens back to the more thriller aspects of the early Connery films. It also scales back on the campier aspects of previous films, and comes off as much more serious.
It also has one of the best "Bond Girls" in Carole Bouquet. On the other hand, it has by far the worst Bond Girl in Lynn Holly Johnson (even Denise Richards was preferable).
