Much too general there.

Your BD Player should play any standard DVD Movie formatted disc (video_ts, audio_ts, etc.)

Converting your movies (mpeg, avi, qt, flv, etc.) largely depends on what they were encoded with (which codec - divx, mpeg4, etc.). Most Suites such as Nero 6/7 or newer Roxio burning suites will give you some dvd authoring ability and have built in encoders that recognize a wide variety of video files.

WinDVD Creator is a real popular one for doing this.

Other software might let you author Video-CDs - and as long as your BD player supports this format (it should) - you could do this too.

It's not as easy as plopping files onto a disc, unless your player features support reading these data type media.
