That would still count as infringing on Sony's design patents, since you'd still be incorporating product elements from a company's specific design philosophy at the time.
UK_fan_05 is right comparing it to the Phase 1 briefcase; it would make it a very similar scenario.
And I wouldn't expect Sony to receive much (if any) product placement compensation for a thirty-year-old product, or at least nothing beyond what covers permission to use their logo on screen.
