It's all about the games.
In the end, if you think long term, the PS3's hardware is considerably more futureproof.
There will be a day that comes, albeit probably not for several years, where you will see PS3 games that really start to exploit the storage capacity and true power of the BR discs. When that starts to happen, that's when everyone will see differences between PS3 games and any other consoles' games.
But this is probably years away from now. 2-3 at minimum, if I had to guess.
