I'm hoping for Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence eventually and have always been slightly puzzled as to why the last two Rebuild of Evangelion movies only have 5.1 audio, where the first two have 6.1.

The latest AL Newswire is up:
https://blog.alltheanime.com/september-2025-pre-orders/ An imminent sale and a few upcoming releases I’m possibly interested in. It’s been a pretty disappointing 2025 for me so far from AL, I think I’ve only had two orders from them this year, and one of them was from their Easter sale. |

Some good stuff in the BOGOF - Sword of the Stranger, Cyber City, Promare (they’re really struggling to shift those steelbooks, lol), Venus Wars, Wings of Honneamise, Patlabor 1-3.
Some decent prices on some of the Collector’s Editions too, Jujutsu Kaisen in particular. Too bad I already have pretty much everything I’d want already. |

You're better off grabbing a cheap sealed copy of the 2009 Bandai release of Sword of the Stranger from Rarewaves. Has a much better encode and is region free. Bandai printed too many copies of that and Escaflowne the Movie.

Managed to get the 30% off code this time, they didn't advertise it by email so I guess fewer people were looking.

Ok if I whack up my brightness and squint, yeah I see it.
It's just not at the level of issue where I care though. Who knows, maybe when it arrives it’ll look like crap in motion in which case if the story is good, I’ll look for the older disc. But I don’t expect to notice it on my tv. Today’s ‘Flash Deal’ is Gundam Movies on 4K - £19.99 each, or £99.99 for the collector’s edition For those who have seen them, are they worth getting instead of watching the series? I see a lot of series-converted-to-movie anime and some get great reviews and some awful. This is mostly positive on letterboxd, but then again the original series is up there with a 4.1 too. (I wouldn’t be buying the series at this point, probably stream on Crunchyroll or wait for it to be in a bogof deal) |

Does anyone else have Anime Ltd’s Kakegurui release? I wonder if I got a dodgy disc (or they’re all like this and anime ltd quietly changed their website descriptions).
Just finished the series, which was good! Got back to the main menu on disc two, click ‘Special Features’…and the menus disappear. That’s it. Title music keeps playing, the background graphic is still there, but now there are no menus. Anime Ltd’s listing under ‘on the discs’ just says "The complete first season (episodes 1-12) on two Blu-ray discs, with Sentai Filmwork's English dub and Japanese audio options with English subtitles." but there’s also an untitled non-functioning dropdown on the list. Meanwhile this site’s review lists some extras: "Clean Opening Animation (HD, 1:38) Clean Closing Animation (HD, 1:32) Maid Café Hyakkaou (HD, 7:38) is a bonus short anime film which fans of the series won't want to miss. The release also includes a selection of trailers promoting other releases available from Sentai Filmworks: High School of the Dead (HD, 00:32), Kaiji (HD, 00:52), Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time (HD, 1:34), and Alice in Borderland (HD, 1:32)." While it is almost a complete copy-paste from his Sentai release review, this makes sense as they’re seemingly the same - even have the Sentai logo on start-up. |
