Yeah it's been like this for the past few days for me but it's been getting progressively worse. Another issue I've noticed this year is that the movie rating section on the bottom of the home page has been getting stuck on the same 5 movies for months at a time.

My slipcover was fine but a big chunk of the red case broke off as soon as I opened it

Also the menus look like they were made with windows movie maker from 1995

'll probably make custom cases at some point anyway

But anyway...I went over what I thought about the Part 5 extra footage (it looks pretty great to me), and from what I have watched so far of the other discs, they look pretty fantastic, just as people assumed based on what we already knew. I'm very satisfied with how they all look.

TBH, I stopped long ago being really detailed in observations about PQ because on 95% of releases, no matter what anyone says, after a week or two the same old folks are going to get a hold of it, tear them apart pixel by pixel and swear that there is some major flaw that only a select few can see, and then people will pile on and that becomes the narrative. So it's really not worth taking the time at this point because it will just get lost amongst all the shipping and packaging kvetching, and then once the usual suspects will come in and crap on it, that's all anyone will care about any way.

I will say, the detail is clearly upped, and the films all look very filmic to me - but this has reaffirmed to me that the old Blu transfers certainly needed upgrades, but they were pretty decent as is. These are way better, of course, and I've already given away my old set - but there is nothing that is "OMG TRANSFORMATIONAL!" like some releases, because in terms of color timing/etc. the old ones were already decent, they just needed this boost with higher res and modern scanning.

TL;DR? Where have I been? I've been enjoying the discs, they look great to me.

Does 2-6 look as good or better than PT1? Or is there a dropoff in quality?

Just watched Part 2 last night. To my eyes, on my setup, it looks very similar to Part 1, which I spot checked right before (already watched the original movie in full on the last release). It has the same clean look with very light grain.

The similar look of Part 2 to Part 1 is no surprise to me. It was shot by the same DP as Part 1, Jacques Haitkin, with the same cameras and lenses on what is probably the same film stock (100 ASA 5247 -- a slow speed stock) only one year later. I'm sure it was remastered for 4K UHD by the same team at Warner.

Will be watching Part 3 tonight.

Wow, thanks for summing up my experience of these boards. I'm so grateful that there are people who can tell me what the least flawed edition of a movie is so I can buy it, and I very rarely get a hangup on what's supposed to be "wrong".
